Performs manual work performing housekeeping/custodial work in the care, cleaning, and general maintenance for Cleveland County departments. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Housekeeping Team Leader. The normal work schedule includes Monday through Friday from either 6AM – 3PM shift or 8AM – 5PM shift. Shift will be identified by the Maintenance Director and Housekeeping Team Leader based on departmental needs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include:

Maintaining lobbies, waiting rooms, offices in a sanitary condition; sweeps, mops, wipes down chairs, tables, cleans glass, dust and vacuums. Maintaining bathrooms in a sanitary condition; filling tissue, towels and soap dispenser, un-stopping commodes or sinks. Moving desks or other office furniture, and file cabinets with assistance from other housekeeping/maintenance staff as needed.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience working as a custodian, housekeeper, or building cleaning work, or equivalent combination or education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment Ability to identify cleaning needs and address with appropriate methods and supplies. Ability to perform manual labor requiring continuous physical effort. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to observe and report needs for maintenance and supplies. Ability to deal courteously with the staff. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisor and other employees. Work Environment /

Work Location:

This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed. Any change of work location, even on a short-term or interim basis, must be reviewed by the Supervisor and HR for approval.
