REPORTS TO
Hospitality Manager
OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for cleaning, housekeeping, and other hospitality duties at Holmes Camp & Retreat Center. It requires the ability to perform a variety of cleaning and custodial tasks in various types of spaces including bedrooms, bathrooms, bunkhouses, conference rooms, and store rooms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with a team of contractors, volunteers, and other employees to maintain guest and working spaces in clean and orderly condition. Provide basic housekeeping duties including changing sheets and bedding, arranging towels and toiletries, restocking supplies, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, etc. Perform detailed deep cleans when required Document and report any damages to property noticed during duties. Mix, use, and store cleaning chemicals according to instructions. Laundry, including washing, drying, sorting, folding, etc. Assist with event set-up, tear-down, and housekeeping needs during events. Perform all duties in a safe and professional manner in accordance with the law and center policies; including the use of PPE as appropriate to job responsibilities.
OTHER DUTIES
Communicate any and all safety concerns directly to supervisor. Complete training as needed. Perform other duties as deemed necessary or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to be trained and use cleaning chemicals and tools properly. Establish successful working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and the public and use good professional judgment, honesty, and integrity in decision making. Employee must be able to interact with guests and coworkers in a professional manner. Follow procedures to use and/or dilute chemical cleaners safely and properly to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. Work cooperatively with other staff members and volunteers and follow all directions and assignments as received.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Willingness to follow directions and perform general housekeeping and cleaning duties. At least 18 years of age.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent is preferred. Driver’s license preferred Must be willing to submit to background checks as required by Center policy, denomination policy, and the State of New York.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate to loud but may be loud during certain assignments. Frequently work with or near various chemical cleaners. Exposed to dirt, dust, grease, loud noises, foul odors, fumes, and other work safety hazards. Work will occur primarily indoors and will require traversing various flooring types and stairs, which may at times have tripping hazards or slick areas.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Extensive physical activity required; regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds or greater. Regularly required to use hands to grasp, handle, feel and operate objects, tools, equipment or controls, and required to lift and reach with hands and arms. Required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, reach, crouch, and climb; talk to or hear guests and coworkers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
