Job Summary:

To ensure a clean and aseptic area within the hospital for the safety, health and morale of patients, visitors and employees by performing various housekeeping and other duties.

Essential Functions:

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. Dusts and damp mop all public areas on the assigned unit to remove all visible soils.
Damp wipes furnishings to remove all dust, visible soils and stains.
Cleans restroom according to department policy and procedure to remove all visible soils and stains.
Cleans and polishes all mirrors and stainless-steel work.
Replenishes all dispensable items such as paper towels, tissue, etc.
Empties trash and washes the trash containers, properly replacing liner.
Uses liquid cleaner and detergent disinfectant to clean heavily soiled sinks and showers and rinses thoroughly.
Assures that toilets are clean on both sides of the seat, beneath the rim, and around the hinges.
Damp wipes the cover of the light fixture over the sink, paper towel dispensers and other wall mounted fixtures.
Removes all soiled linen from the bed and closet and places in laundry bag. Disinfect bed by straying all parts utilizing properly diluted disinfectant.
Removes trash.
Disinfects and cleans bed to remove all dust and visible soils.
Disinfects bedside table inside and out, including the telephone, by damp wiping.
Disinfect closet and drawers thoroughly where applicable.
Disinfects thoroughly all chairs and sleeper units.
Clean and sanitize the restroom to assure that it is clean, neat and deodorized.
Makes bed to assure that it is neat and free of wrinkles.
Upon completion of discharge procedures, notify proper authorities that the room is ready for the next patient, in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Cleans ancillary areas in a timely an efficient manner.
Always wear the proper attire such as gloves, gown, mask, etc.
Maintain hallways of assigned area in a neat and clean manner.
Place wet floor caution signs consistently in the work areas.
Utilize universal precautions at all times.
Uses equipment in accordance with safety guidelines such as vacuum cleaner, floor machines, etc.
Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred Experience Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
