Opening Date 04/18/2025 Closing Date 5/1/2025 11:59 PM Central Agency Minimum Salary $47,425.15 Agency Maximum Salary $64,735.33 About the Agency The Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce’s (Department) mission is to support and apply necessary regulations to agricultural-related businesses within the state and to promote Mississippi’s products throughout both the state and the rest of the world for the benefit of Mississippi citizens. The Department is dedicated to promoting and heightening the public’s awareness of Mississippi’s agricultural history, agriculture commodities and the farmers and ranchers who produce them through participation in trade shows, conferences and various other community and agricultural related organizations. Through its various bureaus, the Department seeks to protect the health and economic welfare in conjunction with the agricultural and horticultural interests of Mississippi. These activities include regulating pesticides, feeds, seeds, fertilizers, and soil amendments, as well as, licensing and certifying all pesticide applicators throughout the state. The Department conducts inspections of producers, grocery stores, meat establishments, fuel stations and other commercial operations to ensure adherence to applicable regulations including, without limitation, food safety and the certification of weighing and measuring devices used in commerce. About the Position The BPI Division is seeking qualified persons to fill the role of Consumer Protection Team Leader. Position is responsible for overseeing all
USDA-APHIS-PPQ
grant programs. Coordinates activities of plant inspection, quarantine, and pest monitoring. What you’ll need to be Successful Successful candidates are a team player, have a good attitude, are ready and willing to learn and grow, have strong attention to detail, strong communication skills, and excellent organizational skills. This role understands state and federal laws and regulations and maintains a close working relationship with stakeholders. Candidate must possess strong organizational skills in order to process cooperative agreements with USDA-APHIS-PPQ, MSU and other state agencies; Attention to detail for reviewing and maintaining historical documentation; Customer service mindset with strong interpersonal skills in interacting with industry and state and federal stakeholders; A proactive attitude and the ability to research and gather information independently to accomplish goals; Ability to quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast passed work environment. Preferred Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 4-6 years of experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8-10 years of experience.
