Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Bakery Production Manager will oversee the production process, ensuring quality control, managing staff, and maintaining inventory. Responsible for assisting with the daily operations of multiple production lines; providing incredible service and support to employees; ensuring food and human safety; product quality and efficiency of the operation. Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and maintain attention to detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with managing inventory which may include ordering, rotating stock, calculating ingredients necessary for production. Mixes, bakes and packages product. Lead production of cutout cookies, frosting, icings and cookie kit assembly. Proficient cookie decorating skills include outlining and flooding with royal icing for preparation of edible image cookies. Proficiency in mixing and scaling of all recipes. Assists with ensuring high quality products and ingredients. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies for food safety and sanitation including but not limited to: Health Departments and Department of Agriculture. Assists with managing all regulatory inspections of bakery and packaging operation. Enforce standards regarding food handling practices, safety, and sanitation. Assures quality control of all food service products. Ensures the safety of all individuals in the bakery area. Demonstrate Good Manufacturing Practices to others and exercise due diligence in protecting Bakery products. Assists with training all employees to produce products. Identify and implement best practices, provide recommendations on improving productivity and ways to reduce operating expenses while maintaining product quality. Delegates and answers questions regarding product quality, product and people scheduling, daily work responsibilities. Assists with the development of efficient production and work schedules to endure timely output. Assists with ensuring employees comply with all policies and procedures. Maintain and encourage effective communication. Must be sensitive to the cultural diversity of others and facilitate trusting relationships and partnerships with board members, vendors, and co-workers. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Candidates for this position will have: the ability to demonstrate, and provide examples of continuous personal development and improvement; a customer focused attitude; communication skills (verbal and written); problem solving skills, strong organizational skills, the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/projects, effectively deal with ambiguity, handling risk and uncertainty with comfort, maintaining effectiveness, use multiple resources to analyze data for abnormal findings, further investigating where warranted and identifying cause-effect relationships impacting the data, use critical thinking to solve complex and difficult problems with effective solutions. Must have the ability to push, pull, lift 50 or more pounds.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred. 1-2 years of prior supervisory experience in a bakery setting preferred. Must have experience with and demonstrated competency supervising others. Must have the ability to successfully pass a drug screen. Must have functional knowledge and experience working with bakery equipment, computers and be able to learn new systems quickly.
