GUIDE POSITION
Transportation Utility Worker
QUALIFICATIONS
- Commercial Driver License/Alabama School Bus Certificate.
- Current and active application on file.
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Such alternates to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO
Coordinator of Transportation & Safety Services Principal or designee.
JOB GOAL
Provide safe, clean efficient transportation and care of students so they may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the school system’s curriculum and extracurricular program.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Obeys all traffic laws. 2. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for the school bus. 3. Maintains discipline when students are on the bus. 4. Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority. 5. Keeps assigned bus clean. 6. Keeps to assigned schedules. 7. Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects by performing a pre-trip inspection. 8. Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness. 9. Discharges students only at authorized stops. 10. Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips. 11. Transports only authorized students. 12. Reports all accidents and completes all required reports. 13. Enforces all regulations relative to students on the bus. 14. Checks bus at the end of each route to make sure all students are off. 15. Becomes familiar with and strictly adheres to contents of the Talladega County Schools Bus Driver Manual. 16. Loads students safely onto and off the bus. 17. Makes certain that wheelchairs are locked and Q-strap brackets and other wheelchair apparatus are secure. 18. Insure that all students follow the bus safety guidelines. 19. Maintains proper and professional relationship with students and other employees at all times. 20. Maintains confidentiality of special education students and the school system at all times. 21. Drives school bus routes as assigned 22. Ride bus, when not driving, to familiarize with routes throughout the district. 23. Performs responsibilities of bus aide as needed. 24.. Performs any other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Transportation & Safety Services or Shop Manager.
