Job Description

Sports and Community Relations Coordinator 3.4 3.4 out of 5 stars 2416 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518 Connecticut Orthopaedics has been named as the #1 Physician Practice in Orthopaedics in Connecticut, as well as ranking in the Top 3 for Surgical Care and the Top 5 for Overall Physician Practices across the state by Castle Connolly. The Sports and Community Relations Coordinator functions as local oversight between Connecticut Orthopaedics ATC’s/Schools, physicians, and support staff. The primary focus of this position is to provide superior outreach Sports Medicine services through a collaborative care model with our physicians to optimize performance and enhance the quality of function for our athletes. Assist in identifying, securing, and managing sponsorships for events, organizations, or projects, encompassing tasks include the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors/key stakeholders, represent the organization at events and ensure sponsor fulfillment in the athletics community.

Essential Responsibilities:

Work closely with sports medicine professionals (e.g., athletic trainers, physicians, Athletic Directors) to ensure effective program implementation. Collaborate with coaches, trainers, and other stakeholders to address sports-related access to care Coordinate physician coverage for athletic departments we serve as outlined within the contract Create & Maintain School Policy/Procedure Handbooks, and local MD & PT specialty resource cheat sheet Identify and manage new opportunities for CO to provide athletic services to schools On-board new schools & staff to the CO network Develop a reporting system that tracks sports-related volumes and demographics of patients, referrals, revenues linked with services provided, reimbursement levels for services rendered, including Ortho On-the- Go Facilitate quick care access with MD teams/call center for student athletes Assist Marketing and Communications Director with identifying and managing marketing opportunities within communities served Coordinate in-services within CO educational network to strengthen community ties Conduct site visits at regional schools. Minimum bi-annually. Performs other duties as assigned by their supervisor Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed (primarily between August – June)

Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated knowledge and compliance of all HIPAA regulations Must possess proficient computer skills Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational and multitasking skills May be required to drive to other locations and support other schools throughout CO Territories Ability to stand and sit for sequences of time greater than 30 minutes. Ability to work on a computer or phone for lengthy times during the day. Must display professionalism and understand discretion Excellent interpersonal skills to be able communicate effectively with schools, physicians and CO staff Experience/Educational requirements: Experience in program development, coordination, and outreach preferred. Bachelor’s degree in related field: Marketing, Sports Management, Exercise Physiology Basis Computer skills: Office 365, Excel, email Basic understanding of Sports medicine
