OF COCOA BEACH JOB DESCRIPTION RECREATION AIDE LEISURE SERVICES GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

The Recreation Aide acts as aide to the Recreation Supervisor and takes over full responsibility for the operation of the gym and activities The aide’s primary responsibility is to provide a safe atmosphere for gymnasium participants. Employee must have good communication skills. Under general supervision, performs recreation work for the athletic and recreation programs and events for the Leisure Services Department. Covers organized league sports, recreational programs, classes or special events during the season. Reports to the Recreation Supervisor. This is a part-time/seasonal position.

RECREATION AIDE RESPONSIBLITIES

Be professional. Coordinate and organize pickleball and basketball play. Maintain the gymnasium, keep office area and locker rooms clean. Observe and enforce all rules and regulations. Complete all required records, memberships, and daily sheets. Ensure safety for participants.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs other related work as required. Assists in setting up equipment, furniture, etc., for various events; assists in clean-up tasks after events. Assist with cleanliness and maintenance of Recreation Area. Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Must be able to work on feet for length of shift.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license, and/or reliable transportation to work. Part-time position Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 4pm

  • 7pm, Wednesday 8:30am
  • 3:00pm, Friday 8:30am
  • 5:00pm.

Must be flexible assisting the Recreation Supervisor during special events and athletic leagues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Physical Requirements :

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, typewriters, copiers, calculators, etc. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work may involve standing, walking and running. Requires the ability to maintain body equilibrium when bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, reaching and/or stretching arms, legs or other parts of body, and to physically maneuver over and/or upon varying terrain, surfaces or physical structures. Physical demand requirements are for Light to Medium Work.
