Shifts:

Full Time 9:00a-5:00p or 10:00a-6:00p

POSITION SUMMARY

As Starlight’s Activity Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing interesting and exciting activities that fulfill the social, emotional, and physical needs of our beloved residents who currently live with disorders that affect the memory.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing and pursuing a varied schedule of meaningful activities and events using Activity Connection. Creating opportunities for the community to raise money and bring awareness to the Alzheimer’s Association. Establishing meaningful relationships with the third-party providers. Creating a community outreach program for residents to be integrated into the community. Arranging for community groups to come into the Community, such as pet therapy, schools, churches, and entertainers. Preparing monthly newsletter and calendars for distribution to all residents and families. Educating, training, and encouraging team members about opportunities to make meaningful connections. Gathering information to compile a snapshot of the resident’s life story. Meeting and greeting each person upon move-in to welcome them and their family and friends to the Community. Assisting family members and residents with decorating their shadow boxes. Communicating with Marketing to put together a Welcome Gift for the new residents. Decorating the common areas for special events and holidays. Maintaining inventory of supplies and manages budget. Creating activity boxes based off the Trilogy Model. Assisting with resident ADLs as needed. Connecting with residents over meals in the neighborhood (Lunch & Dinner). Attend training with Care Assistants. Assuring that patio doors are open and outside gates are secured for resident to enjoy the fresh air and activities laid out for them.
