Full Job Description General Information:

The Unit Manager will provide daily care of residents in the facility, following all criteria set by the State Manual and Executive Director, Director of Security, Facility Security Manager, the Head of Security and Supervisor Coordinators with the implementation of the rules and policies set by the State of Tennessee.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Must be on the floor during meals
• Must be outside while residents are having recreation while their assistant/ assigned assistant is inside.
• Tasked with ensuring that everything is together for the residents’ home-passes (clothes, meds, etc.).
• Ensure the laundry room is open and YSO office is open for dayshift to clock in.
• Perform intake on new residents and keep daily logs.
• Participate in reporting and handling of crisis situations while maintaining discipline following State guidelines.
• Establish a good rapport with the residents and teach them independent living skills.
• Provide transportation for residents, if needed, and maintain knowledge of community recourses.
• Monitor residents for a safe environment at this facility.
• Coordinate staff on medication issuance.
• Provide mentoring and training while ensuring that the YSO’s are working withing the guidelines of the therapeutic milieu to provide support to the residents.
• Give performance reviews of all Youth Service Officers on your shift.
• Ensure that all staff conducts themselves in a firm, non-offensive, professional manner on shift.
• Make sure that all property that enters the facility with a resident is immediately tagged with the residents’ name (even if inventory has not been completed).
• Follow all applicable policies of WHWH.
• Participate in the PQI Program as requested.
• Demonstrate competence in cultural knowledge, awareness, and sensitivity.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Security Supervisor.
• Coordinate a safe and secure environment for the residents and residents’ visitors during visitation hours.
• Ensure SIR, Disciplinary Write-ups and proper notifications are done on all applicable incidents.
• Ensure a room search is completed on each shift.
• Conduct monthly fire and tornado drills as required.
• Ensure Pass-Down Notes are done for each shift.
• Ensure security checks are done as required by Policy and Procedure.
• Support the Wayne Halfway House, Inc. mission statement and approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelors degree in related field preferred.
• Valid drivers license required.
• Two years of experience in working with youth preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing, squatting, walking.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
• Must pass a drug test.
