Department:
Leisure Services Parks & Recreation This is beginning level work in the Leisure Services Department’s Parks and Recreation Division. Responsibilities include performing or assisting in a variety of recreational activities in an assigned area. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Knowledge of the general rules and regulations governing recreational activities. Working knowledge of recreational activities, first-aid methods, and safety precautions. Ability to learn and apply departmental and City rules and regulations. Ability to instruct participants in team sports fundamentals or specialized recreational activities; lead assigned recreational activities. Working knowledge of motor-driven equipment operation. Ability to operate a transportation van; perform semi skilled manual tasks. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, patrons, and the public; exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact; address and resolve minor disciplinary problems. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, or maneuver materials weighing up to 45 pounds. Training, Certification, and Experience Experience in organized or specialized recreational activities. Or, an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Special Requirements Possess (or ability to obtain within six months of employment) Multi-Media First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certifications. Minimum age, 16 years. Valid Florida driver’s license. Copies of required certifications must be submitted with the application. The City of Temple Terrace is a drug-free workplace. A pre-employment drug screen, criminal history background investigation, and a driver’s license verification may be conducted.
