EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

The following duties have been provided as examples of the essential types of work performed by positions within this job classification. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed.

Plans, coordinates, oversees and evaluates a variety of community recreation programs or classes and/or specialty area programming such as adult or youth athletics, aquatics, after school, summer program, special events, performing arts and gymnastics, age-appropriate activities or programming designed for disabled residents or senior citizens. Oversee program development, marketing and implementation including registration, selection of instructors, collection of fees and lesson planning.

Resolves scheduling or participant conflicts. Assists with all gymnastics and performing arts classes as well as Spring Break and Summer Camp including planning and scheduling of activities.

Serves as a City representative with community groups, business organizations, corporate partners, government agencies, and other City departments; attends multi-disciplinary and task force meetings to develop collaborative efforts, identify needs, strategies and solutions to promote recreational activities. Stays current with developments in the field; attends a variety of professional development programs.

Develop promotional or program materials and makes public presentations on services offered.

Assists in training other coaches and instructors on proper techniques and safety for the corresponding levels of gymnastics.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Possession of an Associate’s degree in Leisure Services, Recreation, Education or a related field and two (2) years of recreation programming, performing arts and gymnastics, coaching or closely related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Leisure Services, Recreation, Education or a related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. Knowledge of circus arts, specifically circus aerial is beneficial

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Will be required to obtain through the City USAG Safety Certification and CPR/AED and First Aid Certificates.
