Key Responsibilities Under the general supervision of a designated Supervisor, performs routine administrative functions for the City. Ability to perform work of a clerical nature in typing documents, processing account payments and information, researching information, maintaining electronic filing systems, and answering phones. Employees in this class are responsible for customer contact and conflict resolution via telephone, in person, through correspondence, tracking, dispatching, following up and resolving inquiries/complaints via telephone or Internet. Ability to prioritize tasks and usually performs such independently with periodic supervision or review. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Knowledge of report and record keeping principles and techniques. Knowledge of business mathematics. Skilled in both written and oral communications for effective expression and clarity. Ability to utilize a variety of modern office equipment, i.e., computers, facsimile machines, scanners and copiers. Knowledge of alphabetic and numeric filing principles and methodology. Ability to establish and maintain effective-working relationships with supervisor, support staff and other departments position interacts with. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to be adaptable to performing under frequent deadlines, re-prioritization of tasks and assignments. Performs related work as required. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma / GED Minimum one (1) year experience in administrative work, revenue handling, accounting/bookkeeping, or related field. Depending on area of assignment, must possess a valid state driver’s license upon hire and obtain a valid Florida driver’s license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion. Minimum Standards Required Tasks are performed in a common office environment. The position is generally sedentary. Employees sit most of the time, but may walk or stand for brief periods. Tasks may require some unassisted lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of lightweight objects up to 20 pounds. Tasks may require prolonged periods of visual concentration or keyboard/mouse use. Requires the ability to speak, hear (perceive sound) and/or signal people to convey and exchange information; differentiate between colors or shades of color and smells; read a variety of materials, at times complex; apply principles of rational problem-solving; record and deliver information, explain procedures, issue and follow oral and written instructions; and communicate effectively and efficiently in Standard English as primary language while performing job duties.
