Part-Time Special Projects Assistant 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 214 Salamanca Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33134 Summary Special Project Program Assistant will be assigned to the Special Project Division at the War Memorial Youth Center. This part-time position is under the supervision of the Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor or his/her designee. This position is responsible for ensuring 100% customer satisfaction. Employees in this position will conduct and participate in activities, field trips, and special events for children in the after care setting as instructed by the Supervisor. The Special Project Program Assistant will be called upon to assist the Special Project Coordinator in coordinating and implementing a variety of event activities and providing information on recreation events and activities and assist in the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility of assignment. Job Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Provides exceptional customer service in person and over the telephone. Interacts and communicates efficiently with vendors, city personnel, and patrons. Assists the Special Project Coordinator with programming events and games. Researches ideas, and prepares supplies and equipment for programs. Prepares site, equipment, and/or materials for recreational activities, and special events. Observes, enforces, and complies with all policies, rules, regulations, laws, and ordinances of the facility, the department, and the City of Coral Gables. Maintains order and discipline of facility patrons and ensures that all safety precautions are observed and followed. Maintains supply and equipment inventory control. Issues, receives, and oversees the use and care of recreation and/or facility supplies and equipment. Assists in the maintenance and cleanliness of the Facility Park and equipment. Administers basic first aid as required, and prepares and completes required paperwork related to first aid. Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and other functions as required by Supervisor. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 17 years of age. Previous experience with recreation facility and events. Certification in approved first aid & CPR course preferred. Valid Florida Driver’s License. A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

PART-TIME

(15-24 Hours):

ANNUAL LEAVE

: 4 days per year (1 day is equivalent to 4.80 hours). Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment.

SICK LEAVE

: 4 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 15 hours if more than 2 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year.

HOLIDAYS

: 12 holidays (If scheduled to work, plus 1 floating day).

BEREAVEMENT

: 3 Days for the death of an immediate family member (Parent, spouse, or child) and 2 days for any other immediate family member.

ADMINISTRATIVE SICK LEAVE

: Employees who have not used sick leave, leave without pay, or have not lost time due to an on-the-job injury in a 6 month period are entitled to 1 day of administrative leave.

CASH PAY OUT OF VACATION

: Employees may request payment of accrued/earned annual leave not to exceed 15 hours at the rate of pay in effect at the time of the request, provided such request is made no later than September 30, 2015 (or as amended every fiscal year).

MILITARY LEAVE

: 30 work days every year with pay and the remainder of the period shall be without pay, unless otherwise provided by City Commission.

JURY DUTY

: Time off with pay if scheduled to work.

PART-TIME

(25 -29 Hours)

ANNUAL LEAVE

: 8 days per year (1 day is equivalent to 5.80 hours). Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment.

: 8 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 30 hours if more than 4 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year.
