THIS IS A VOLUNTEER POSITION

(Unpaid)•Summer Camp begins 06/09/2025 and ends 8/09/2025. Assist Summer Camp Counselors with their assigned responsibilities and duties. Summer Camp activities at the City of Sunny Isles Beach may include, but are not limited to, athletic and sports-related events, arts and craft, music, life skills and field trips. Position incumbent supports City sponsored programs; provides supervision with related activities, and must maintain effective working relationships with teammates, program participants, children and/or parents, as necessary. Illustrative Examples of Essential Duties Assist with activities to include sports, hobbies, drama, team games and arts & crafts for the Summer Camp Program. Ensure supervisor is updated orally, or in writing, on all activities and is kept informed of any related issues.
If required, perform facility maintenance, i.e. garbage disposal or cleaning up.
Assist children in the various activities providing guidance and coaching as necessary.
Maintain adequate inventory of program or recreational activity supplies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Assist with the lesson planning for each day of the program
Assist with the program area for the different activities, ensuring safety and security.
Assist with the tracking of the campers’ attendance.
Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to work well with children.
Ability to be friendly and courteous at all times when working with the children and staff.
Ability to be creative with activities for the children.
Ability to take direction from supervisory staff.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish effective working relationship with children, adults and coworkers.
Ability to lead activities, drills, games and apply rules of various sports i.e. soccer, volleyball, baseball, basketball, cheerleading etc.
Ability to work prolong hours outdoors.
Ability to stand or be physically active for prolong

Minimum Requirements Education and Experience:

Previous CIT or Junior Counselor experience desired and previous work or volunteer experience working with children desired and in a summer camp setting preferred; any acceptable combination of education and experience. License or 

Certification:

CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
Fingerprints and VECHS background check required.

Additional Information:

It is the responsibility of the incumbent to maintain their licenses and/or certifications as a job requirement.
Must submit most recent report card and a recommendation letter from a teacher.
Must be entering at least 10th grade in Fall 2025.
Must be available to work at least 90% of the camp duration (06/09/2025 – 8/09/2025). Employer
