This role is essential in providing engaging and meaningful activities for individuals, particularly those with disabilities or dementia. The Activity Assistant will work closely with residents to enhance their quality of life through recreational therapy, event planning, and personalized care. The ideal candidate will have a passion for caregiving and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. Responsibilities Assist in planning and implementing recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents. Support individuals with disabilities in participating in community events and activities. Provide care and assistance to residents during activities, ensuring their safety and comfort. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote engagement and participation. Manage schedules for activities, ensuring that all events are well-organized and accessible. Collaborate with the care team to create individualized activity plans that cater to the unique needs of each resident. Document participation and feedback from residents to continuously improve activity offerings. Qualifications Experience in home community care or working with individuals with disabilities is preferred. Background in recreational therapy or event planning is a plus. Knowledge of dementia care practices is beneficial. Strong caregiving skills with a focus on compassion and empathy. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with residents and team members. Ability to manage schedules efficiently while being flexible to adapt as needed.
