out of 5 stars 3991 Oswego Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33409 The Westgate Recreation Center is hiring a Recreation Specialist III.
Duties:
Performs administrative and supervisory work developing, coordinating, implementing, organizing, supervising, and evaluating year-round recreational activities, special events, and programs for youth, teens, and adults. Ensures Countywide and community participation in summer camps, health/holiday/wellness/community events, and adults and seniors programs. Performs program registration/evaluation/document maintenance. Supervises the work of full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees and contractual and volunteer staff. Liaises with the public, youth/adult sports providers, schools, and service agencies to obtain/provide information, formulate new programs, and further public relations for Palm Beach County (PBC). Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed by the Recreation Programs Coordinator or Facility Manager through conferences, reports, and evaluations of results obtained.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Health and Physical Education, or related field; minimum of three (3) years of experience organizing and directing recreational activities.
Equivalencies:
1. Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related experience 2.Related Associate’s Degree and five (5) years of related experience 3. Unrelated Associate’s Degree and six (6) years of related experience 4. Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and seven (7) years of related experience.
Necessary Special Requirement:
Must obtain First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification within six (6) months of hire.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN/WITH
Contract compliance for sports programs; providing information and resolving concerns/complaints from customers and the public; using RecTRac software.
Also desirable:
Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) with the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) and/or Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA) with the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS); bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
