Job Description:

Bedrock Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Wedgewood is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Activities Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will facilitate engaging activities for our residents under the guidance of the Activity Director.

Your responsibilities will include:

Setting up necessary equipment and supplies for activities and escorting residents to and from activity areas. Supervising and assisting residents during activities to ensure they are safe and engaged. Visiting in-room residents and assisting with letters, errands, appointments, and crafts/projects. Observing and documenting resident attendance, mood, behavior, and participation in activities. Interviewing residents or family members to gather activity-related information and involving them in planning whenever possible. Coordinating activities with other departments and assisting with transportation for activity trips when needed. Scheduling movies, planning parties, and providing other fun and stimulating activities for residents.

Qualifications:

Minimum of two (2) years of college education (degree preferred but not required). Must be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who is licensed or certified by the state. At least two (2) years of experience in a social or recreation program within the last five (5) years, including at least one (1) year in a patient activities program in a healthcare setting. Alternatively, must be a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant or have completed a state-approved training course.
