Job Description
The Assistant Athletic Director for Communications is responsible for leading the Communications Office, including the supervision of two employees, and serving as the sport contact for multiple sports, including men’s basketball. The Assistant AD reports to the Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employment duties include, but are not limited to the following: + Provide direction and leadership of a three-person Communications department to effectively manage game day statistical needs and enhance the media exposure of Stetson University athletics + Work with content creation staff to update main social media accounts daily + Manage all aspects of GoHatters.com, the athletic department’s website + Distribute media (photos and video) to media, coaches, and student-athletes + Serve as the sport contact for selected sports, including men’s basketball + Serve as liaison with Stetson Broadcast Productions for all ESPN+ productions + Travel with teams as needed and arrange for photo and video needs for away contests + Serve as athletics department historian, creating a digital archive of Hall of Fame, Sports records, etc. + Educate student-athletes on social media best practices and interview skills + Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned Required Skills + Excellent writing, editing, and desktop publishing skills + Strong verbal communication ability; be able to communicate effectively both in writing and orally and possess strong interpersonal skills + Organizational and time management skills + Expertise in computer programs, especially Adobe and NCAA stat programs Required Experience + A master’s degree preferred in communications or related fields + 5 years of working in a collegiate communications office + Desire to join a distinct university community committed to inclusive excellence, kindness, and collaboration, as it seeks to move Forward Together in making our community and world a better place Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.
