Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director General Function:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Camp Director, the Programs Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of the Evening Programs, All Camp Day, Camp store, LIT (Leaders in Training) program and the CIT (Counselor in Training) programs. Supports the Assistant Director by assisting in planning, coordinating staff training, completing administrative tasks and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of the campers. They may also assume duties in the Assistant Director absence, manage conflicts and assist with administrative staff.
Essential Functions:
1. In charge of assisting to plan, prepare and implement all day to day operations of camp. 2. Plan, prepare and implement all evening programs and all-camp days. 3. Provide direction and role model positive behavior to all staff and Leaders/Counselors in Training 4. Communicate positively and enthusiastically with campers, parents, staff and volunteers 5. Work with Executive Director and Assistant Summer Camp Director to develop and review curriculum for CIT training sessions 6. Prepare staff for CIT evaluation process, follow-up to ensure completion, and review evaluations after completion 7. Supervise all staff 8 Assist in leading the pre-summer staff training program 9. Assist in opening/closing day activities as needed 10. Assist in organizing evening programs and camp-wide activities 11. Supervise campers during Free Time 12. Participate Leader/Director on Duty Responsibilities – Camp Quiet, On Call Phone, etc. 13. Assist with maintaining the traditions and functions of camp. This includes but is not limited to camper recognition, speaking/singing in front of camp, evening programs, late night events, dressing up, leading flagpole, leading morning mission and other responsibilities. 14. Create and be able to implement a “rainy day” plan 15. Assist with minimum two Holdovers 16. Attend all staff meetings 17. Complete and maintain on an ongoing basis the designated areas for accreditation with the American Camp Association 18. Must be committed to carrying out the basic team purpose of YMCA Camp Winona and the Volusia Flagler YMCA 19. Ability to serve and respond in a positive, respectful, timely, caring manner to a diverse background of user groups 20. Treat each child with dignity and respect 21. Report all accidents and incidents involving self, participants, guests or other employees 22. Familiar with and able to implement emergency procedures 23. Assume additional responsibilities as directed by camp directors
Pre-requisites:
1. Minimum of 21 years of age 2. Minimum of rising sophomore in college or equivalent 3. Driver’s License with clean driving history 4. Current First Aid and CPR 5. Preferred Certification in YMCA or American Red Cross Life Guarding 6. Supervisory Experience – (ex: Summer camp experience, Led service trip or community outreach) 7. Computer skills, including Access, Excel ,
