Full-Time Position Title Fitness Coordinator Position Summary Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Wellness & Fitness Programming, the Fitness Coordinator has direct responsibility for all aspects of day-to-day fitness programming and is responsible for developing and implementing fitness and wellness programs to promote and maintain a healthy lifestyle for individuals or groups. This position will play a crucial role in creating a positive and motivating environment for participants, while also ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Recruit, hire, train, supervise, develop, and evaluate fitness staff part-time employees, including all group fitness instructors and personal trainers.
Coordinate the scheduling of all fitness staff to ensure adequate coverage.
Enforce and communicate college and department policies with all patrons.
Oversee the daily, weekly, and monthly operations, maintenance and upkeep of fitness facilities and equipment to include preventative maintenance of the fitness floor, fitness studios, and functional training room spaces and equipment.
Work with the Director and Assistant Director to develop annual maintenance plans, long-term projects, and replacement schedules.
Oversee the fitness budgets, including payroll, program/maintenance expenses, and tracking revenue, and prepare future budget requests with Assistant Director
Oversee all programs and offerings within the fitness program area to include developing the fitness schedule each semester (10-20 classes/week) and managing and continuously assessing personal and small group training programs.
Design and/or assist with marketing of fitness programs/offerings as needed.
Enter and update all programs into the Fusion software system for registrations, and coordinate with Wellness Center staff for the use, and scheduling of all recreational facilities.
Create, identify, and assess program goals and student learning outcomes in support of college and division missions and strategic plans.
Work with all Wellness Center professional staff to advance the department and division’s vision, mission, core values, and strategic plan.
Work to support the overall mission of the Wellness Center, Student Affairs, and the college including active participation in Wellness Center and campus-wide campaigns, initiatives, projects, and committees.
Collaborate with other professionals, such as nutritionists, physical therapists, and healthcare providers, to ensure a holistic approach to health and wellness.
Develop and implement in-services for fitness staff and stay up to date with industry trends and research to incorporate new exercises, techniques, and programs into the fitness curriculum.
Keep accurate records and reports on participant attendance, progress, and program evaluations.
Monitors and maintains records of all equipment inventory and promotional items, and coordinate purchases and replacements. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field required with 2 or more years of experience. Previous experience in planning and delivering fitness programs. Strong knowledge of health and wellness principles and practices. Experience working with diverse populations and age groups. Strong understanding of confidentiality and privacy guidelines in relation to participant information. Knowledge of emergency procedures and ability to respond effectively in emergencies. Physical fitness and endurance to demonstrate exercises and lead fitness classes. Excellent knowledge of fitness principles, exercise physiology, and nutrition. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively motivate and instruct individuals and groups. Ability to design and implement safe and effective exercise programs tailored to individual’s needs and fitness levels. Proficiency in a variety of fitness modalities, such as cardio exercises, strength training, flexibility training, and mind-body practices. Understanding of injury prevention and proper form to ensure participant safety. Organization and time management skills to efficiently plan and coordinate fitness classes, workshops, and events. Ability to adapt and modify fitness programs based on individual limitations and health conditions. Leadership and team-building skills to effectively supervise fitness instructors and assistants. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to enforce them. Proficiency in using fitness tracking software and tools. Preferred Qualifications None Certifications, Licenses, Restrictions Certification from a recognized fitness training organization such as ACE, NASM, or ACSM. Required-CPR and first aid certification.
