Full-Time The Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority is accepting applications for the position of Youth Athletic Assistant. This position, under general supervision, performs supervisory and athletic tasks assisting with the planning, organizing, and supervising of youth athletic programs. Work involves training and supervising part-time personnel for the Youth Athletic Program; performing duties of part-time personnel in their absence; assisting with scheduling of the use of athletic facilities, preparing requisitions and reimbursements for maintenance expenses, and purchasing and delivering supplies and equipment for programs; addressing inquiries regarding program by electronic mail and telephone; preparing facilities for use; and performing other duties as assigned. Reports to the Athletic Manager.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor’s degree in sports management, leisure services, parks, recreation and tourism management, or related field is preferred. Must possess a valid Georgia State Driver’s license. The successful candidate must be a mature and highly capable individual and must demonstrate superb skills in team leadership and motivation. Must have excellent communication (both verbal and written), customer service, organization, and project management skills. The position requires a smart, dynamic, resourceful, reliable, highly motivated, self-starter who is pro-active, able to develop new protocols and procedures, and respond to unexpected challenges, oftentimes with limited outside guidance. The successful candidate will, at all times, maintain a keen awareness of the professional environment and ensure that all staff feel they are working in a positive workplace and being treated in a fair, respectful, and supportive manner by their colleagues and management. In order to succeed, the employee is expected to fully engage with the community and staff as well as assume a personal sense of ownership and pride in the Authorities operations.

Hours of operation:

Employment in this full time position may require both regular and irregular work hours to include frequent weekends and nights or holidays depending on the needs of the Authority. A pre-employment drug screen, criminal history background investigation, and a Motor Vehicle Report will be conducted.
