This staff member oversees programming areas which include, but are not limited to fitness, climbing center, and group exercise, and provides staff support to other areas within Campus Recreation. They provide primary supervision and training for more than 60 Wellness & Recreation Complex staff. They serve as the point of contact for all marketing, promotions, technology, and website management for the department. Responsibilities Manage daily operations of the Wellness & Recreation facility. Maintain oversight of all facilities, equipment, and supplies. Coordinate with Facilities to address issues. In collaboration with Director and Associate Directors, create and update facility regulations and policies. Work with equipment vendors for repairs and warranty coverage as needed. Provide on-site emergency response and supervision while updating and enforcing emergency response procedures. Provide oversight for all membership management for the facility. Manage student employees for the Wellness & Recreation Complex. This includes but is not limited to interviewing, hiring, training, development, and evaluating student employees and graduate associate(s). Schedule student staff, ensuring adequate coverage of all facilities; work with available schedules of more than 60 employees to schedule students across the semester for the Wellness & Recreation Complex. Ensure a high level of customer service and adequate facility coverage. Coordinate with PEPSL to offer student internships in various programmatic areas. Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of a marketing plan for the department. Manage the department website and social media accounts. Maintain and utilize a photo bank for all departmental programs. Market various departmental events via the College website, social media, hard copy print materials, etc. Collaborate with the Office of Marketing to coordinate marketing projects and identify potential opportunities. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate climbing wall staff. Ensure wall certification with the State of Massachusetts as needed, including inspections. Coordinate climbing wall use, manage equipment, and inventory annual needs. Work with other campus departments to schedule and utilize the wall. Provide leadership and support to the group exercise program. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise group exercise instructors. Create a class schedule to fit instructor availability and campus demand for classes. Coordinate with PEPSL to support academic classes with group exercise options. Maintain records of participation and oversight of all equipment and supplies. Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance and participation in required training for role. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required with 1-3 years of directly related experience. Master’s degree preferred in the fields of Sport Management, Recreation Management or a related field. CPR/First Aid, CPR instructor (preferred). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requires strong organizational skills and ability to engage in advanced planning. Requires strong supervision, organization, and attention to detail to manage a large student staff, policies, and procedures. Requires moderate to advanced technology skills and knowledge. Developing/managing facility operations, maintenance and staffing, marketing, climbing wall and group exercise operations. Ability to teach and train. Ability to manage a large budget and purchase as needed supplies/equipment. This position requires occasional evening, holiday, or weekend work required for student staff training at the start of the semester and/or programming.
