Position Description The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer. Description of Duties
The graduate assistant will assist the Assistant Director of Athletics with the promotion and publicity of all 22 Bridgewater State intercollegiate programs. The graduate assistant will gain practical and valuable hands-on experience in the area of communications and sports information, and will have the opportunity to connect and network with professionals in the area. The graduate assistant will also receive experience in a Division III institution and gain valuable skills needed to apply for full-time positions following graduation. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
writing and editing press releases, game recaps, and feature stories;
producing game programs;
maintaining the athletics website (www.bsubears.com);
providing statistical coverage at home contests;
directing and supplying content for the social media platforms;
assist with other day-to-day office duties. The graduate assistant will also lead student workers and assist the Assistant Director of Athletics in the area of public relations. The graduate assistant must meet the admission requirements for the Bridgewater State University Graduate School program. Employment is contingent upon admission and enrollment into the graduate program. As a condition for retention, the GA must remain in good academic standing within the graduate program. Preferred Qualifications Qualifications
Admission into a BSU Graduate Program (required).
Experience in the area of communication or in an intercollegiate sports information office.
Strong written and oral skills
Ability to work nights and weekends
Knowledge in the use of athletic statistic software such as Presto stat package
Knowledge of video editing software, Adobe Create Suite and Microsoft Office products
Ability to communicate successfully via email and social media.
Ability to work independently. Physical Demands Must be able to lift 25 pounds with support.
