Job Description
Part-time Sampson Community Center Assistant City of Clinton (NC) Lane, NC JOB General Statement of Duties Assist the center supervisor in overseeing a recreation facility and supporting the programming and implementation of center activities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor. Distinguishing Features of the Class An employee in this class assists the center supervisor in overseeing a recreation facility and supporting the programming and implementation of center activities. Work includes custodial duties maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the center, and monitoring facility for safety hazards. Work includes greeting citizens, handling problem situations, and developing rapport with center participants including developing rapport and mentoring children at center. The employee explains departmental rules and policies and provides input into new policies. Work may also include administrative work registering citizens, collecting fees, and assisting with special events. Work requires daily independent decision making in supervising and managing a facility and running programs. Work requires tact and courtesy in dealing with the public and ability to be firm when situations require. Duties may expose the employee to human body fluids thus work is subject to OSHA regulations on blood borne pathogens. Work is performed under the general supervision of the center supervisor and is evaluation by observation, discussion and feedback from citizens coming to the center.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and TasksAssists with the operation and supervision of the Sampon Recreation Center and Sampson Center Park.
Assists the center supervisor in planning, organizing, administrating, coordinating and promoting multiple recreational or leisure programs and events for various age groups at the Sampson Recreation Center. Performs basic administrative work registering participants, collecting fees, making copies, developing flyers, and supporting special events and programs held at the community center.
General knowledge of facilities maintenance.
Assists with cleaning and monitoring the facility for safety hazards.
Ability to express ideas effectively and communicate effectively in written and oral presentations.
Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
Ability to enforce rules and regulations with tact, diplomacy and firmness.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, volunteers, employees, school personnel, citizens, and City departments/staff.
Ability to interpret and explain policies, rules, and procedures to participants, parents, and officials.
Possess proficiency in basic office software packages (MS Office).Performs related duties as required
