We are currently hiring for an Activities Assistant-Arts and Crafts, PRN status. Function:

To assist with planning and implementing arts and crafts activities.

Responsibilities:

Assists with analyzing the needs, interests and capabilities of the Residents and designing a program of activities to meet those needs. The program should provide a balance between individual (one-on-one) and group activities, including social, recreational, educational, spiritual, and physical opportunities and field trips. Plans and implements group and one-on-one activities. This includes planning the activity, setting up and cleaning up. Understands and utilizes validation, redirection, and realty orientation in dealing with the Residents. Collaborates with Life Enrichment colleagues to incorporate a healthy mind, body and spirit atmosphere for Residents. Attends In-service trainings. Adheres to all Covenant Village policies and procedures and works in line with the

Core Values and Mission Statement. Performs any and all tasks assigned by management. High School diploma or GED is required. Arts and crafts experience is required. Computer and typing skills and internet knowledge are helpful. Able to relate well to elderly people at all levels of functional ability. Creativity and organizational skills required. Must communicate with the public in a professional manner. Available for occasional evening and weekend activities. Must be able to communicate and speak clearly and effectively with residents, some of whom may have a hearing impairment. Able to read normal print (with or without corrective lenses) and hear a normal speaking voice. Able to lift up to 35 pounds. Must have adequate dexterity in hands to finger grasp and manipulate small objects. Able to stand for extended periods of time and crawl, crouch, climb, kneel, pull, push and reach as needed. Must have good sense of balance and have the ability to endure repetitive movements. Have the physical ability to assist with pushing residents in a wheelchair. Have a valid drivers’ license and good and safe driving skills and record in order to transport residents using the Covenant Village bus/van/car. Individual will be exposed to inside and outside conditions and may be exposed to Bloodborne Pathogens however, proper training and protective devices will be provided.
