Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
The Crew Coordinator will be responsible for supervising and management of the cleanliness and maintenance duties throughout the Central Business District of Downtown Greensboro. The position will oversee and coordinate duties such as litter collection, leaf collection, trashcan maintenance, sidewalk washing, herbicide spraying, landscape maintenance, snow removal, graffiti removal, and special events operations. The coordinator will also perform project management duties, both in the short term (1-2 day) and mid/long term (1-6 months), often with in conjunction with outside contractors, utility providers, and other city departments.
The ideal candidate for this position will be an above-average communicator, being able to provide timely response and follow-up to a constant flow of requests for service, from a variety of sources including downtown business owners, downtown residents, and other downtown centric organizations or associations. The coordinator must also be flexible and attentive to related duties such as maintenance in the downtown parks, the transportation Depot, or other public spaces amidst the 99 blocks of Downtown Greensboro. The position must also respond to issues directly involving the unhoused population around cleanliness and coordination with public safety officials and social services support/outreach.
Administratively, the ideal candidate for the Crew Coordinator position will exhibit experience and attention to detail in the areas of time, budget, and human resource management. The coordinator will manage a crew of (4) FTE and (2) PTE’s and is responsible for their administrative accountability.
The physical requirements of the job are standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, shoveling, and heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. This position requires working around traffic and heavy equipment; work will be performed outside in all weather conditions.
