Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal) Next Step Clubhouse 501 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28202 Job Overview We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Camp Counselors to join our team for an exciting summer camp experience. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and educational environment for children. You will be responsible for leading activities, providing guidance, and ensuring the well-being of campers throughout their time at camp. Duties Supervise and engage with campers during various activities, ensuring their safety and enjoyment. Plan and implement creative programs that promote learning and personal growth, including arts and crafts, sports, theater, and outdoor adventures. Manage camper behavior effectively using positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques. Provide first aid when necessary and maintain a safe environment for all participants. Communicate effectively with campers, caregivers, and fellow staff members to ensure a cohesive camp experience. Assist in the setup and breakdown of activities and maintain cleanliness in all areas used by campers. Qualifications Previous experience in working with teens/adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, support care or related fields such as senior care or teaching preferred. Strong behavior management skills with the ability to maintain group management effectively. Passion for working with teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also taking initiative when needed. Certification in first aid or CPR is highly desirable but not mandatory; training may be provided.
