Job Description:
If you have a passion for sports and enjoy working with the public, join Southern Pine’s Parks and Recreation department as a gym and field supervisor. In this role, you will manage and supervise athletic program activities, including youth and adult sports leagues, special events, tournaments, and athletic facility rentals. This position requires excellent communication skills and a strong knowledge of sports. This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week. Typical Tasks Provides on-site supervision of youth and adult sports leagues and events Supervises scorekeepers and field usage assigned to athletic games, rentals and facilities Opens, sets up, and closes athletic and park facilities Keeps score for adult and youth sports leagues Communicates issues and problems to full-time Athletic staff Enforces Southern Pines policies Provides routine information on departmental policies, procedures and services Performs any other job-related task as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities This position requires basic knowledge of soccer, basketball, baseball, flag football and volleyball. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, the general public, and the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Must be able to work outside in typical inclement weather such as heat, cold, and rain showers. Must be able to lift objects up to 25 pounds. Minimum and Preferred Qualifications Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to or working toward a high school diploma/GED.
