JOB DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, this position will oversee proper use and program activity of facilities. The Fitness Attendant ensures compliance of established rules and procedures for the use of the facilities. Provides customer service to registered participants, class instructors, and the general public. Opens facilities for scheduled programs. The Fitness Attendant may be required to perform light custodial tasks such as emptying trash containers, picking up litter, restroom check, sweeping floors and other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED A
basic understanding of sports. An understanding and concern for safety in regard to facilities, equipment, rules, and procedures. Understanding of recreation philosophy as it relates to sports. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Highly proficient in areas related to customer service. Able to work with minimal direction and supervision.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to work independently. Maintain an appropriate appearance for meeting with the public. Greeting and welcoming members and guests as they enter the gym. Checking-in members and verifying membership status. Answering phone calls and responding to inquiries. Maintaining a clean and organized front desk area. Assisting members with questions or concerns regarding gym equipment, classes, or services. Providing tours of the gym facility to potential new members and explaining membership options and benefits. Ensuring the safety and security of the gym by monitoring access to the facility and enforcing safety protocols. Process paperwork accurately. Organize information and prepare facilities. Perform physical aspects of assigned duties including lifting, carrying and moving equipment. Communicate with supervisor regarding problems or concerns. Other related duties as required.
FITNESS ZONE SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assisting with administrative tasks, such as data entry, filing, and recordkeeping. Assisting with marketing initiatives by promoting gym services, events, and specials to current and potential members. Provide backup when staffing issues arise Staying updated on Mindbody processes to provide accurate and helpful information to members. Assisting with membership registrations, cancellations, suspensions and updating member information in the system (including troubleshooting membership issues). Handling transactions, including processing membership fees, retail sales, and payments for additional services.
HOURS/SCHEDULE
This part time position has flexible hours during the mornings, afternoons, evenings – for both weekdays and weekends.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
