POSITION SUMMARY
The Group Fitness Coordinator provides direct support to the Healthy Living and Group Fitness Director, Group Fitness staff, and program. They are responsible for supporting scheduling, tracking class attendance, communicating with subs and other tasks deemed necessary to create a fun and motivating experience for members. They are responsible for managing these functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the
YMCA. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Models relationship building skills in all interactions with both staff and members. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility. Assists in keeping up the accuracy of the Group Fitness app and website content. Verifies descriptions, assigns instructors and ensures the details and times are correct for members. Supports the substitute process by reviewing future sub needs. Checks in with instructors to determine sub needs for their class and assists, as needed, with finding coverage for classes. Supports and facilitates special events for the group fitness department. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate through Email. Ability to perform administrative tasks 10-12 hours a week with knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Must obtain certifications from the YMCA in Basic Life Support/First Aid and Emergency Oxygen within first 30 days of hire. Certified Group Fitness Instructor preferred. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Multi-lingual desired but not required.
