The Walnut Creek Athletic Complex Programs Assistant plays a key role in the operation and management of the Walnut Creek Athletic Complex. This position supports the City of Raleigh’s Youth & Adult Softball Leagues and Walnut Creek’s Weekend Tournament rentals, ensuring that all operations run efficiently and effectively. During the winter season (December-February), this position will also assist with scorekeeping for winter basketball games. Reporting directly to the Director of the Walnut Creek Athletic Complex, the Programs Assistant works alongside another Programs Assistant to support daily tasks and the successful execution of programs and events. This role works 25 hours per week as a Permanent Part-Time position and contributes to the Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System (LGERS) at a 6% employee contribution.

Work Schedule:

Year-round, 20-25 hours per week

Monday-Thursday:

6:00 PM

  • 10:00 PM
Saturday-Sunday:

6:30 AM

  • 2:30 PM or 2:30 PM
  • 11:00 PM (weekend hours vary based on tournament needs)
    Winter Schedule (December-February): Monday-Thursday, 6:00 PM
  • 9:00 PM; Saturdays, 9:00 AM
  • 1:00 PM Duties and Responsibilities Provides operational support for weekend tournaments and events
    Supervises scorekeepers and Athletic Site Managers during weekdays
    Handles cash transactions and assist with ticket booth operations
    Performs administrative tasks, including Adult Softball registration and cash handling
    Assists in program supervision, monitor facilities, and address customer inquiries
    Collaborates effectively with other Recreation Division program areas
    Responds to customer service inquiries
    Supports facility maintenance and ensure adherence to safety and risk management policies; position is expected to drive City PUV’s around the facility complex Monitors staff behavior and ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all patrons
Typical Qualifications Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation

License and Certifications:

Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in facility management
Supervisory experience with staff
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and recreation software

Additional Information Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Effective leadership with positive communication techniques
Supervising other staff members
Facility Management
