Day Camp Counselor 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 200 N Center St, Goldsboro, NC 27530 General Statement of Duties/Distinguished Features of the Class An employee in this position works closely with day camp staff to provide recreational activities for participants. Provides daily guidance to campers and assistance with activities and program planning. The person in this position must be capable of functioning as a team member with other Recreation and Parks staff. Provides supervision of camp. Work is performed under supervision of the Day Camp Director. Essential Duties and Tasks Implements scheduled activities with camp participants, as assigned by Day Camp Director. Plans daily guidance of children in camp. Provides assistance to other workers and participates with children. Plans activities for campers and helps supervise camp activities. Assists other departmental staff in program implementation as needed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Effective oral communication. Ability to follow instructions to meet the needs of camp participants and program activities. Ability to provide instruction and monitor activities of young children. Ability to get along with staff, co-workers, and members of general public. Physical Requirements/Special Requirements Must be able to perform basic life functions of stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, and hearing. Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Experience and Education Experience working with children 6-12 years old in a recreational setting. Knowledge of First Aid and CPR. Must be 18 years or older. Preferred Qualifications Experience interacting with children with physical and/or intellectual disabilities is a plus.
