This position involves assisting in planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities tailored to the needs and interests of seniors, particularly those with disabilities or dementia. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for working with older adults, ensuring that each resident feels valued and included. Duties Develop and implement a diverse range of activities that promote social interaction, physical engagement, and cognitive stimulation. Schedule and coordinate events, ensuring all necessary resources are available and staff is informed. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation in activities. Work closely with individuals with disabilities to create inclusive programs that cater to their specific needs. Maintain an organized calendar of events, managing logistics for each activity from inception to execution. Collaborate with social workers and healthcare professionals to ensure activities align with residents’ care plans. Assist in training staff on best practices for engaging residents in activities. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs through resident feedback and participation rates, making adjustments as needed. Qualifications Proven experience in event planning or activity coordination, preferably within senior care or assisted living environments. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members. Knowledge of working with people with disabilities and understanding their unique needs. Familiarity with dementia care practices and the ability to create supportive environments for individuals experiencing memory loss. Background in social work or related fields is a plus. Ability to manage schedules efficiently while being adaptable to changing needs within the facility. A compassionate approach towards seniors, demonstrating patience and understanding in all interactions. Candidate would have to be available every other Saturday from 9:00 to 5:00. And one day a week from 12:00 to 8:00. This role is essential for fostering a vibrant community atmosphere where residents can thrive through meaningful engagement.
