Job Summary:

Arnold Walter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a compassionate and energetic Recreation Aide to join our team. The Recreation Aide will assist in planning and delivering meaningful recreational programs that enhance the quality of life for our residents. This role involves direct interaction with residents, participation in care planning, and collaboration with other departments.

Responsibilities:

Assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating engaging recreational programs. Monitor and document resident participation, mood, behavior, and level of involvement. Participate in resident assessments, care planning, and discharge planning related to recreation. Interview residents and/or families to gather information on recreational interests and needs. Encourage resident and family involvement in activity planning and goal setting. Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive programming. Refer residents and families to appropriate social services when needed. Maintain accurate and detailed charting on resident participation and responses to activities. Contribute to the department’s quality assurance and improvement efforts. Support preparation for and participation in facility surveys by regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year of experience in a recreation or activities-related role, preferably in a healthcare setting. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, engaging demeanor. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Willingness to learn and apply new methods to enrich the recreation program.
