GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
To assist in planning a group work program designed to promote social development and rehabilitation of individuals through group work activities; to conduct group work activities at a State institution involving leading or instructing institutional residents in a variety of recreational and handicraft activities; and to do related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the direct supervision of a superior from whom are received specific work assignments and instructions; work is reviewed in progress and upon completion for adherence to instructions and proper application of group work techniques.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
May supervise the work of subordinates or volunteer workers assigned to assist.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
To assist in planning a group work program designed to promote the social development and rehabilitation of individuals through group activities.
To conduct group work activities at a State institution involving leading or instructing children or adults in a variety of recreational and handicraft activities consisting of sports, social activities, arts and crafts, dramatics, physical education, music, etc.
To make the necessary arrangements for implementing these activities by performing tasks, such as preparing material for art or craft work, providing various groups with proper recreational tools and equipment, contacting interested persons and groups outside the institution to obtain entertainment for parties, dances, etc., developing formal instruction periods for such activities as dramatics, music, physical exercises, gymnasium apparatus work, etc.
To arrange for the utilization of outside community resources, such as boys’ or girls’ clubs, camping areas, etc., provide transportation to and from the community and supervise the activities of individuals at such times.
To develop and supervise intramural sports activities.
To encourage individuals to participate in group work activities according to their abilities and physical condition.
To maintain records on the behavior and attitudes of individuals within the group and to participate in case conferences.
To be responsible for the care, custody and discipline of individuals within the group.
To be responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of recreational rooms, playground areas, etc.
To be responsible for the equipment and tools used in recreational and handicraft activities.
To do related work as required.
