The Recreation Aide supports the execution of recreational, fitness, and wellness programs for students and staff at the FLETC Charleston facility. This position ensures the safe and effective operation of recreational areas, assists with programming logistics, and provides front-line customer service at designated facilities including the Student Center, Physical Training Building, and outdoor recreation areas.

Key Responsibilities :

Facility Oversight Monitor assigned recreation areas during operational hours, including the gym, student center, courts, and fields. Ensure proper use of equipment and facilities, enforcing all safety and conduct policies. Conduct routine checks of equipment and report maintenance or safety issues. Program Assistance Support the planning and execution of recreational and fitness programs, including tournaments, intramural sports, and special events. Assist in setting up and breaking down for events, ensuring equipment and spaces are prepared. Customer Service Greet and assist students and staff using recreational facilities. Provide guidance on facility rules, operating hours, and available programs. Maintain accurate sign-in sheets and track participation data. Sanitation and Organization Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of recreation spaces and equipment. Disinfect high-touch surfaces and restock supplies (e.g., towels, cleaning wipes). Emergency Response Respond appropriately to injuries or incidents and notify proper authorities. Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications and assist during emergencies as needed.

Qualifications :

High school diploma or equivalent required. At least 1 year of experience in recreation, fitness, sports, or customer service. Ability to interact positively with a diverse population in a structured training environment. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods. Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)..
