Activities Assistant

  • Part-time and PRN Inman Healthcare 51 North Main Street, Inman, SC 29349 Inman Healthcare is seeking an experienced Activities Assistant
  • Part-time and PRN
  • in the development, organization, coordination, and implementation of comprehensive therapeutic recreation services and programs that meet the needs and interests of each resident.
Qualifications:

High School graduate or equivalent.  Previous experience in a social or recreational program coordination preferred.  Must hold or acquire required state licenses and/or certificates.  Must have ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary at accomplish the job.  Basic understanding of computer technology, including email use.  Must maintain regular attendance.  Must meet all local health regulations, and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.  Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Essential job functions:
A. RECREATION SERVICES
Duties:

Facilitate group programs as assigned in a timely and efficient manner. Complete required documentation. Contribute to resident care planning preparation. Provide individual programming as assigned. Maintain activity department supplies and equipment. Assist with planning and leadership of special events. Invite, encourage and assist residents participation in activity functions. Document attendance and refusals.

B. VOLUNTEER COORDINATION
Duties:

Evaluate the need for volunteer services within the facility. Recruit, interview, select, and place volunteers to meet the residents’ needs. Develop and supervise volunteer orientation and training to ensure positive relations.

C. SAFETY
Duties:

Comply with support the center’s policies related to all safety and infection control procedures including the proper use of mechanical lifts, gait belts and personal protective equipment.

D. RESIDENTS’ RIGHTS AND POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS FUNCTIONS
Duties:

Understand, comply with and promote all rules regarding residents’ rights; promote positive relationships with residents, visitors and regulators, to include a professional appearance and attitude.

E. ETHICS AND COMPLIANCE
Duties:

Exhibits expected ethical and legal standards including matters related to resident abuse or neglect, by personally complying with laws, regulations, code of conduct and ethics policy. Reinforces through example and where applicable, training, the expectation that all employees that they supervise conform to these ethical and legal standards, including matters related to resident abuse or neglect. Responds promptly and thoroughly when problems are reported. Assists in planning, implementing and monitoring corrective action, when problems including ethics and compliance problems and resident abuse or neglect are identified to the Director of Nursing or Administrator. Maintains compliance in promoting patient privacy, HIPPA regulations and confidentiality in the delivery of care. Safeguards patient medical, financial and personal information. Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the Aid of Mechanical Devices): Walking/mobility, grasping, reaching, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling; fine hand coordination; ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures; ability to hear and respond to pages; ability to read and write and do mathematical percentile; ability to travel, including overnight stays; ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; ability to communicate with residents and others; ability to instruct personnel during training education and staff meetings; and ability to instruct personnel during training education and staff meetings; and ability to remain calm in emergency situations and when handling multiple tasks. #
