Full Job Description General Description:

The purpose of this class within the organization is to manage recreation programming and facilities in the City of Rock Hill. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in business, sports and recreation or related field. Requires a minimum of six months of responsible recreation programming and instruction experience, facilities management or closely related experience. The equivalent combination of education, training and related work experience may be considered.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Thorough knowledge as it relates to areas of programming, event planning, marketing, community relations, and administration. Knowledge of the principles of organization and administration. Knowledge of modern office practices and technology; knowledge of proper English usage, vocabulary, spelling, and basic mathematics. Ability to work nights and weekends. Ability to lead and oversee the work of seasonal recreation personnel. Ability to inspect facilities, grounds, and equipment and make necessary repairs. Ability to react calmly and quickly in emergencies. Ability to prepare required reports accurately and promptly. Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines. Ability to complete additional training as needed. Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills. Work is performed onsite. The incumbent must be present at work to perform the essential functions of this job.

Essential Job Functions:

Coordinates and assists outdoor recreation programs, clinics and special events at Rock Hill Parks, Recreation & Tourism facilities. Coordinates staff and volunteers related to programs and special events. Assists with developing programming, partnerships, special events and community outreach opportunities. Assist in hosting regional, national and international events. Makes recommendations on equipment needs, facility improvements and maintenance. Develops relationships with schools, clubs, organizations and event rights holders. Manages opening and closing of facilities. Assists with compiling daily, weekly, monthly and annual membership, usage and financial reports. Provides staff support to various committees, commissions, and other groups as required. Participates in cross training opportunities. Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
