Job Summary:

The Assistant General Manager at De-Railed Diner supports the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant. This includes supervising staff, maintaining high standards of food quality and customer service, handling administrative tasks, and helping drive profitability. The AGM plays a hands-on role in operations and is a key leader in ensuring a smooth, guest-focused dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in managing all aspects of front and back-of-house operations. Supervise, coach, and develop team members to meet performance and service standards. Help recruit, hire, train, and schedule staff to ensure appropriate coverage. Monitor guest satisfaction, resolve complaints, and uphold service excellence. Maintain food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards throughout the restaurant. Support inventory control, ordering, and vendor relationships. Monitor labor, food, and supply costs to help meet budget goals. Lead by example—jumping in to cook, serve, or host when necessary. Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and health regulations. Step in as acting General Manager during the GM’s absence.

Qualifications:

1-2 years of restaurant leadership experience required (diner or casual dining preferred). Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Basic knowledge of restaurant financials (labor cost, food cost, inventory). ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, and nights.
