- BAY MINETTE, ALABAMAThe City of Bay Minette is accepting applications for the seasonal position of Pool Assistant Manager for the City of Bay Minette Municipal Pool.
This is a seasonal position working at the Municipal Pool during the summer pool season. The primary responsibility will beassisting in the management of Municipal Pool operations, to ensure pool patrons and staff members are safe and protected. Responsibilities also include maintaining a safe and clean environment for patrons and staff to enjoy. Duties are performed under the general supervision of the Pool Manager, Recreation Director or other designated supervisor. Supervision is exercised over Lifeguards and Pool Concession Workers.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Pool Manager in the day-to-day operations of the City of Bay Minette Municipal Pool
- Assists in the management, supervision, and oversight of concession stand staff in the provision of food and drinks for recreational pool activities
- Schedules staff to ensure adequate coverage for daily and special events
- Trains staff on proper procedures and techniques for lifeguarding and pool concession stand operations
- Inventories equipment needed for staff, facility operation, and concessions stand to ensure adequate provisions for daily and special events
- Collects daily receipts and funds for delivery to City Hall
- Manages customer relations with swimming pool patrons and the public. Trains staff in customer relations practices and techniques to ensure excellent interactions with patrons
- Coordinates pool parties and other special events for the facility
- Receipts membership dues, daily admission fees, and concession sales
- Prepares records on staffing, inventory, maintenance, and other administrative paperwork, as needed
- Maintains and trains others in maintaining stock for the concessions area
- Operates cash register
- Reports any unusual maintenance related issues with the building or equipment to the Pool Manager, Recreation Director, or Custodial Supervisor, as needed
- Maintains chemicals in the pool
- Must wear staff uniform while on duty and exhibit behavior appropriate for a city employee
- Supervises others and participates in daily cleaning assignments
- Addresses any concerns or issues brought by the public
- Addresses and takes care of any broken equipment
- Works a flexible schedule to ensure adequate and efficient pool operations, to include nights, weekends, and holidays
- Maintains professional and courteous behavior toward co-workers, pool visitors, the public, and others contacted in the course of the work
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- HS diploma or successful completion of GED is required
- One year of work experience in a recreational pool facility preferred, preferably including supervisory experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be drug and alcohol free
- Must be in good physical condition and able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be dependable, alert, and enthusiastic
- Must have a good work ethic, be responsible, courteous, and possess good communication skills
- Must exhibit a welcoming and pleasant attitude conducive to working with the public and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include afternoons/evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must have the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Certifications in CPR and First Aid Training preferred.
