2:00 PM – 10:00 PM, 5 days/week (Sundays off + 1 additional day off based on club needs) (Occasional schedule changes are required based on club needs)

Full-time | Key Holder Position Stonington Harbor Yacht Club is seeking a Bar & Service Manager to join our team and help lead front-of-house operations in a member-focused, service-driven environment. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone with strong bar and service experience who thrives in a collaborative setting and values a balanced work life. The Bar & Service Manager will work closely with the General Manager , Executive Chef , and Communications Manager to ensure the Club delivers consistent, high-quality experience for members and guests. Key Responsibilities Staff Leadership & Scheduling Supervise and support front-of-house staff during service hours and during special events Create and manage weekly staff schedules based on volume, events, and business needs Ensure shift coverage and adjust schedules as needed for optimal efficiency Provide real-time leadership on the floor during service hours, including closing oversight Responsible for hiring front-of-house staff, as necessary, in coordination with the General Manager Staff Training & Accountability Lead initial and ongoing training to ensure staff are equipped to deliver a superior member experience Communicate expectations clearly and consistently; provide on-the-job coaching Document and address staff performance issues through corrective action when necessary Help foster a positive, professional team culture that aligns with SHYC’s service standards Inventory, Ordering & Reporting Maintain adequate levels of beverages, linens, cleaning supplies, and other service-related products Conduct and report monthly beverage inventory to the Bookkeeper and General Manager Manage ordering of beer, wine, liquor, and related supplies, tracking usage and minimizing waste Bar & Service Support Bartend as needed, ensuring fair distribution of shifts among staff Support the team during events, peak service times, and callouts Close the building and ensure all end-of-day procedures are completed properly Operations & Communication Draft and maintain service-related policies and procedures to uphold SHYC standards Attend weekly management meetings to prepare for upcoming events and address service or staffing concerns Partner with the General Manager on private events, staffing plans, and operational coordination Qualifications Experience in a supervisory or managerial role in bar or restaurant service Strong bar knowledge and hands-on service experience Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills High standards for cleanliness, presentation, and service consistency Proven reliability and trustworthiness (this is a key-holder position) Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure Experience with staff training, inventory control, and vendor communication preferred Why Join SHYC?
