Summary Supervises all meal and social activities at the dining site, acting as Hostesses/Host for approximately 15-75 senior citizens daily. Has general responsibility to maintain a pleasant and harmonious atmosphere conducive to continued participation of the most withdrawn group of clients. Oversees site organization, the service of food, recreation activities, volunteer recruitment, nutrition education, donation deposits and record keeping. Part time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervises volunteer site aides involved in table set-up, meal service, social and clean-up activities. Is responsible for verifying the meals ordered and the meals served on the Congregate Roster and reports the information to the office daily, prior to 1:30 PM. Responsible for a variety of other required reports pertaining to meal quality, nutrition education, the donation system and bus service. Count daily cash donations with the assistance of (2) Volunteer Counting Clerks, prepare Meal Donations Receipt Voucher and enter information on monthly Site Donation Report. Originates or supervises recreational activities (i.e. bingo, music, speakers, exercise, games, parties, etc.). Establishes rapport with clients to gain trust and enhance socialization. Provides clients with information and directs them to the Area Supervisor for assistance through referrals, etc. Explain program to potential clients, consult with Area Supervisor on relative needs between present clients and new applicants. Responsible for site safety, security and cleanliness, telephone calls and other miscellaneous kitchen duties, including lifting large pans of food weighing up to 23 pounds from Cambros. Refer to most recent grant application, if applicable. Education/Experience Requirements Minimum High School Graduate. Should possess a better than average ability to read, write and understand the spoken word; be able to prepare daily reports on attendance and service; and understand the need for cleanliness. Have demonstrated ability to work with people in a supervisory capacity in a formal situation or have done active volunteer work with some charitable organization. Skills/Competency Requirements Must have a reliable automobile and valid Florida Driver’s License to accomplish program business such as banking and attending meetings for training, etc. Must be physically able to lift heavy and large metal pans from the Cambros and place them on the serving tables, as well as moving coolers short distances. Must be physically able to perform the Heimlich maneuver on participant’s who are choking on food and lift food pans weighing up to 23 pounds. Emergency Disaster Assistance As part of the obligation of Aging Matters in Brevard being a lead agency on aging, all employees, unless otherwise specified, may be required to be available prior to, during and post disaster. Assignments, as required, will be issued in accordance to directive from SRA, Brevard County Government and AMB Administration.
