Position Summary We are seeking a motivated, organized, and energetic School Food Service Café Manager to lead our cafeteria team in delivering scratch-made, nutrient-dense meals that fuel student success. The Café Manager plays a critical role in daily cafeteria operations and helps advance our mission of promoting health and academic excellence through food service.
Key Responsibilities Daily Operations:
Oversee food preparation, meal service, and kitchen cleanliness to ensure efficient and sanitary workflows.
Team Leadership:
Supervise, train, and support cafeteria staff in a positive and upbeat work environment.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure adherence to USDA National School Lunch and Breakfast Program standards, including HACCP food safety protocols and nutrition guidelines.
Inventory & Procurement:
Manage food and supply inventory, place orders, and maintain accurate documentation.
Financial Oversight:
Monitor meal costs, manage receipts, and help maintain budget compliance.
Customer Service:
Engage with students, parents, and staff to create a welcoming dining experience and promote healthy food choices.
Reporting:
Prepare production records, participation metrics, and compliance reports as required by federal and state regulations.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or GED required. A degree in nutrition, culinary arts, or related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years in food service, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role. School food service experience is a plus.
Certifications:
Food Handler’s Permit required; ServSafe or equivalent preferred.
Skills & Traits:
Strong leadership and team-building abilities Knowledge of nutrition, large-scale food prep, and sanitation practices Basic computer literacy for inventory and reporting Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand for extended periods Positive, proactive, and solutions-focused attitude Working Conditions Part of a dynamic K-12 school community focused on health and education
Hours:
