Job Function:

The chief responsibility of a Dining Services Manager/ Head Chef is to provide overall leadership and management of dining services operations. The job also involves operating the department within a stipulated budget and and being financially accountable for the dining services department. This is a hands-on position that requires both exceptional cooking ability and strong leadership skills. Other important duties include supervising and training team members, food ordering, food preparation and delivery, conducting safety and sanitation programs and keeping accurate records to ensure regulatory compliance. Foodservice operational management experience in a fine dining setting is preferred. Other pre requisites are good communication, supervisory, leadership and interpersonal skills. Duties and Responsibilities include : Supervision and management of all dining services Ensures food preparation for optimal nutrition Plays a key role in planning/preparing meals and other events such as marketing or community functions. Checks food for flavor, temperature and appearance Makes frequent inspections of all work, storage and service areas to determine that regulations regarding foodservice activities are followed including compliance with safety and sanitation. Maintains Servsafe manager certification Monitors policy and procedure Ensures kitchen equipment is properly maintained Verifies invoices Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
