Schedule:
The client has the below upcoming travel (flight) schedule, and would prefer to find someone who can accompany him when possible. Location Approximate Start Approximate End Miami June 15 Chicago June 15 July 5 Seattle July 5 August 31 Chicago September 1 September 25 Miami September 25 Mid-October Cancún Mid-October Mid-October Miami Mid-October The client is open to additional travel with the right candidate. The Environment To be able to best support the client, you will be provided with the following (a video walk-through of his primary home is ): Dedicated parking space at client’s residence Private bedroom and bathroom, until you are comfortable sharing the client’s Fast Wi-Fi, desk/workspace, and 4K external monitor Access to amenities in/around the residence – fitness center, pool, sauna, parks, etc. Well-stocked kitchen with high-protein and nutrient dense foods (you will manage online grocery ordering & receiving) On-time monetary support (every 2 weeks) Client & Goals Our client is a 35-year-old man who uses a wheelchair, has a caregiver/assistant team who lives with him, and works as a consultant/advisor. We are looking for a reliable, adaptable, and compatible person to work with us to accompany and support him in: living a fitness-oriented lifestyle being engaged in community building skills and wealth. IPA Team For context, his In-Person Assistant (IPA) team provides live-in caregiving/personal assistance at all times for the following types of activities: Bed transfers (he weighs 125lbs/57kg) Toilet assistance (transferring and wiping) Grooming (shaving, filing nails, cutting hair) Meal prep & feeding Bathing & dressing Home care, pet care, & routine appliance maintenance Driving & accompanying (in his minivan) Home exercise program set up & positioning The ideal candidate would be able to facilitate this care – whether that means assisting with managing/scheduling the team, guiding new team members on how to properly provide the care, or even providing the care when needed. As such, the interview process for this position will initially mirror the process for the caregiver/assistant position, to ensure that you understand its intricacies. In the case that you provide extended caregiving (for example in the event of a caregiver absence) your monetary support will be increased by the compensation that would have been provided to the caregiver for that shift. You can see what the client looks for in terms of synchronization with his caregiver/assistant team, and how that translates to their compensation . He would be looking for similar qualities in this position. Asana The ideal candidate will be able to communicate clearly and efficiently with the team to get things done, using a d online task list (accessible via Asana.com). You may use your own laptop to access Asana or use the d IPA laptop – there is a mobile app, and it’s better suited for use on the go. You will be expected to complete your tasks by the assigned due dates, and you will need to manage your own schedule to make this happen. You will also have access to the client’s Google Calendar so that you can plan around your schedule and his schedule as needed. Schedule & Duties The client would most prefer company on the weekends (Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon). He is typically busier during the week, when he exercises twice a day, works, and participates in various community activities (chess club, community walk, language exchange, mosque). If these activities are of interest, he would be happy to have the additional company, as well as company at home if living together for more days. He would really enjoy being able to work or enjoy downtime near each other. Day-to-day, the client prefers to be in bed b 9 PM. He typically wakes up once per night to use the restroom (which requires assistance at the moment, though he hopes to change that) and gets out of bed between 6 AM – 8 AM. His current top priority is ensuring he gets proper sleep/recovery, in order to benefit most from his exercise training. Beyond assisting with coordinating care, the client is looking for an extra set of eyes in the home/kitchen, to make sure supplies are well-stocked, food is not spoiling, etc. and companionship – someone to have meals with, talk about ideas with, go to events with, ups/downs with, and enjoy each others’ presence. The client does not need you to be with him at all times, and he does need you to communicate clearly on when you will and will not be with him, so that he can plan accordingly. This would not be a good fit if you prefer to have a lot of spontaneity. Client Details The client works from home, which is generally in Miami (Brickell). He generally spends his summers away from Miami, splitting time between a suburb of Chicago & a small urban town about 30 minutes from Seattle. Ideally, you would be able to travel with him in the summer. He likes to keep his home fairly warm (24°C/75°F) during the day because he gets cold easily, and he has 2 cats. He eats a high-protein diet, and does not eat pork, with the rare exception of bacon. He consumes medicinal grade edible cannabis daily, and rarely consumes alcohol. He supports people in making their own decisions with respect to diet and responsible use of substances. Since December 2024, the client has committed himself to a protein rich diet and a rigorous strength training program. He is very happy that he has been noticing small, significant improvements in his physical independence, and hopes that will continue. The client has an underlying neurological condition which caused him to need a wheelchair since the age of 15. He had a lot of physical independence when he was younger, as he was able to drive and live on his own, and unfortunately he became a bit too consumed with work and neglected to take care of his body properly. As mentioned, he uses a wheelchair full-time because he cannot walk. He has very weak arm/legs, so he has difficulty caring for himself, and his core balance is limited, so it’s important to be very cautious when moving him so that he does not fall and injure himself (we will teach you the routines and procedures in place to prevent this). The client speaks English & Urdu fluently, speaks Spanish with a little difficulty, and he can understand Hindi & some Gujarati. He enjoys exercising, working on a variety of projects, standup comedy, EDM music, learning new things, experimenting with food, occasionally dining out, and being around family & friends. He prefers to be minimalist and fiscally conservative as opposed to flashy, and tends to prefer smaller, low-key, and quieter settings with people who know him well and appreciate his dry/sarcastic sense of humor. Having had caregiver support since 2015, he is comfortable working with many different types of people. His preference is for someone who is very punctual, communicates proactively, multitasks effectively (even being one step ahead of him) and is exceptionally thorough in their work (details are very important) . He prefers that you dress clean & comfortable. He has formed good friendships with many of his former caregiver/assistants, and what they have all had in common has been their ability to focus on the work at hand and complete it at a high caliber, which enables him to relax and be more interested in social conversations.
