Leadership Full Job Description Position:

Seafood Department Manager At Joseph’s Classic Market, we pride ourselves on offering the freshest seafood, delivered daily. Our Seafood Department Manager plays a key role in upholding our quality standards, ensuring excellent product presentation, and delivering exceptional customer service. Fresh seafood is highly perishable, requiring a leader with keen attention to detail and a passion for food excellence.

Routine Tasks:

Ensure all Seafood Department staff consistently deliver customer service that meets Joseph’s standards Maintain product freshness and adhere strictly to sanitation guidelines Train all new and existing Seafood Associates, ensuring they are equipped with the tools and knowledge to succeed Actively sell seafood by engaging with customers, sharing product information, answering questions, and making thoughtful recommendations; train team members to do the same Manage departmental budgets, including sales goals, profit margins, payroll, and supply costs Write labor schedules and ensure compliance with scheduled shifts Submit orders and manage inventory to avoid out-of-stock items and overstock that can lead to waste Replenish, rotate, and maintain product displays to ensure visual appeal and freshness Package and label items for self-service areas; verify accuracy of product signage and pricing Cut and prepare seafood products according to company standards Clean and maintain scales, cutting areas, and prep stations Operate department equipment including knives, steamers, and scales safely and efficiently Assist with other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by store leadership

Qualifications:

Prior experience in seafood, grocery, or food service leadership is strongly preferred Ability to deliver friendly, respectful, timely customer service Ability to lead a team and hold people accountable Experience managing profit and loss, income statements, and departmental metrics Strong ability to interpret and follow instructions accurately Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills A passion for serving people A Seafood Department Manager performs their tasks primarily in the Seafood department. Must have the ability to clearly articulate the company’s goals and follow up on tasks and projects to achieve those goals. Must be able to resolve conflicts and promote a positive environment where all department associates enjoy coming to work. Work involves walking, standing for prolonged periods, and lifting products weighing up to 80 pounds. Work also includes frequent interaction with customers and fellow employees.
