Director of Economic Development Position Summary:

The General Manager of Carver Market at Focused Community Strategies (FCS) will work with the 15+ member team to ensure operational excellence occurs in all aspects of Carver Market and Community Grounds Cafe. This will be accomplished through carrying out the mission and values of FCS in operating a neighborhood based community store in order to: provide jobs to Historic South Atlanta, create a positive community space for all in our community, and offer healthy, high quality, and affordable food options for our community. Working closely with the Director of Economic Vitality and the rest of the store management team, this position will be responsible for all of the daily operations of both Carver Market and Community Grounds Cafe.

Responsibilities:
Staff Management:

Provide leadership and guidance to the team of shift leads (3-4) and support staff (8-10) Scheduling employees to ensure proper and consistent coverage of all departments Hiring new Support Staff as needed Create and sustain a positive workplace culture Ensure proper training of employees across all facets of the stores Facilitate workforce development activities in conjunction with partners and/or workforce development coordinator

Operational Procedures:

Ordering inventory for all departments in conjunction with the department leads Ensure proper equipment cleaning and light maintenance Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of the store is up to a high standard Ensure pricing accuracy of inventory and menu items in the point of sale system Inventory cost control management in order to reach KPI goals Quality & freshness control management in both stores Cash systems management

Customer Relations:

Create an environment for customers to thrive that is positive and inviting to all Respond to any questions, concerns, complaints, or compliments Create in store marketing opportunities to grow sales and customer relations Maintain a social media presence that attracts customers to the store

Qualifications:

5 years prior retail experience 3-5 years prior grocery and food service experience is preferred At least 5 years of management experience in either food service or general retail Servsafe Certification preferred before employment begins. It will be required after hiring. Ability to work in a high paced & multi-cultural environment Flexible work schedule (potential for evenings and weekends as needed)

Compensation and Benefits:

Full-time

  • 40 hours/week
  • $60,000
  • $70,000 annually depending on qualifications and experience 192 hours paid time off annually Employee health insurance
