Full-Time Reports to: Operations Manager About The Inns at St. Albans The Inns at St. Albans is seeking a polished, service-driven Food & Beverage Front-of-House Captain to lead the delivery of exceptional dining and event experiences across our historic property. This key leadership role oversees FOH staff, maintains service excellence, and ensures smooth operations for weddings, private events, and guest dining. The ideal candidate will possess strong hospitality instincts, attention to detail, and a passion for guest engagement. Key Responsibilities Lead front-of-house service teams during weddings, private events, and regular dining operations Serve as the primary liaison between guests, culinary staff, and operations during service periods Ensure that all FOH team members are trained, prepared, and professionally presented for each shift or event Oversee table setups, room staging, and event-specific service logistics to meet client specifications and brand standards Uphold service standards by modeling exemplary guest interactions and ensuring prompt, courteous attention to all guests Monitor flow of service during events and meals, identifying and resolving issues proactively Support pre-event briefings and post-event breakdowns, communicating feedback to the operations and sales teams Manage FOH inventory (linens, tableware, service tools) and assist with setup and breakdown Assist in onboarding, mentoring, and supervising part-time or seasonal FOH team members Qualifications 2+ years of experience in fine dining, upscale catering, or hospitality/event service leadership Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a warm, professional demeanor Proven ability to lead a team in high-pressure, guest-facing environments Knowledge of food & beverage service styles (plated, buffet, cocktail receptions, wine service, etc.) Ability to remain composed, organized, and detail-oriented in dynamic service settings Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by event schedules Physical stamina and comfort with standing, walking, and lifting during long shifts Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly or salaried compensation based on experience Performance-based bonus potential This position is not currently eligible for company-sponsored benefits (e.g., health insurance, 401(k)) Opportunities for professional development and future leadership growth
