Position Summary:
The General Manager (GM) of Miss J’s Café is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the café, ensuring high standards of customer service, food quality, staff performance, and financial performance. This role combines leadership, operational oversight, and a hands-on approach to ensure the café runs smoothly and maintains its reputation as a welcoming, community-focused establishment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
Manage all café operations, including opening/closing procedures, inventory, scheduling, and cleanliness. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and company policies. Monitor and maintain equipment and facilities, arranging repairs as needed.
Customer Service:
Maintain a high standard of customer service and satisfaction. Handle customer feedback, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly. Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere aligned with the café’s brand and mission.
Staff Management:
Hire, train, and supervise staff including baristas, cooks, and front-of-house personnel. Schedule employees effectively based on business needs. Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations.
Financial Oversight:
Monitor daily sales, labor costs, and overall budget performance. Manage ordering, inventory control, and supplier relationships to optimize costs. Prepare weekly/monthly reports on sales, expenses, and operational metrics.
Marketing & Community Engagement:
Work with ownership to execute promotional strategies and special events. Manage café’s social media presence and local outreach efforts. Foster community relationships and partnerships that align with the café’s values.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in restaurant, café, or hospitality management. Proven leadership skills and team management experience. Strong understanding of food safety and local health regulations. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
